Uppsala, Sweden, December 12, 2025 – Caroline Walerud is announced as AirForestry’s new CEO as the company enters a new phase of product development and scale-up.
Uppsala-based AirForestry, a fast-growing green tech startup developing electric drones to harvest trees, is preparing to enter a new phase in product development and scale-up as the company has reached several important milestones during 2024–2025.
As part of this change, Olle Gelin has handed over the role as CEO to Founder Caroline Walerud, former Executive Chairman. Pär-Jörgen Pärson, General Partner at Northzone, who led AirForestry’s seed round in 2024, has been appointed Chairman of the Board, succeeding Caroline Walerud. He has backed market-defining companies such as Spotify, Flower, iZettle, Tandem Health and Bedrock Ocean Exploration, is listed on the global Forbes Midas List, and co-founded The Inner Foundation, a €100 million initiative supporting the inner health of young adults.
Olle Gelin will continue to focus on forestry, the customers and AirForestry’s real-world impact as he steps into the role as Forestry Technology Expert and Head of Customer Relations.
“We intend to use the founding team’s strengths in the best possible ways to maximize our chance of success in making AirForestry the global standard for forestry operations. What’s most important for me is to make this product a global success and I’m going to focus on the customers, products and product requirements to create a compelling and unprecedented solution to transform forestry. It’s great to use Caroline’s strengths in continuing building the organization and attracting more capital to enable our scale-up journey”, says Olle Gelin, Forestry Technology Expert and Head of Customer Relations, Founder and Board Member at AirForestry.
This transition has been thoughtfully prepared over time to reinforce AirForestry’s mission: transforming forestry by utilizing drones for electrified aerial tree harvesting, creating more productive and resilient forests, significantly better at carbon sequestration, through its non-invasive technique. AirForestry’s management highlights that the team is more motivated and engaged than ever to drive this mission forward.
“I believe that AirForestry could become one of the world’s most important companies. We have the chance to change how forests are managed globally, take a huge chunk out of CO₂ emissions, and solve the biggest pains for forestry with next to unlimited customer demand. I am looking forward to reaching that goal together”, Caroline Walerud, CEO, Founder and Board Member at AirForestry adds.
